Every year, tens of thousands of people congregate in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada to build Black Rock City, a transient city devoted to self-reliance, self-expression, community, and art. Everyone is welcome in this hub of brilliance.

The goal of the Burning Man Project is to organize the annual Burning Man festival while also directing, nurturing, and safeguarding the more permanent community that its culture has produced. Its goal is to create a society that connects each person to their creative abilities, community involvement, the larger sphere of civic life, and the even greater world of nature that exists beyond society. We believe that the Burning Man experience has the potential to transform the world for the better spiritually. Burning Man is profoundly inclusive, and anyone may be able to fully understand its meaning.

The defining characteristic of worth in its culture will always be immediacy: experience comes before theory, moral relationships come before politics and roles come before jobs. Lastly, for Burning Man to succeed in achieving these goals, it must continue to be a self-sufficient business that can support the lives of individuals who devote their lives to its mission.
